Mid-Major Defensive Player of the Year |
|
|
|
Scott
Rodgers was the best defender on one of the top
defensive-minded teams in the country and the 6-foot-3
senior is the recipient of the CollegeInsider.com
Mid-Major Defensive Player of the Year honors.
“He is an outstanding on-the-ball defender,” says
CollegeInsider.com’s Matt Drake. “Drexel exceeded a
lot of people’s expectations this season (picked last
in preseason CAA poll) and it was defense was the key.
Scott Rodgers set the tone defensively.”
Rodgers would frequently draw the assignment of having
to guard the opposition’s top offensive player. His
value to the team didn’t always show up in the stat
sheet, but opposing coaches recognized his worth.
“Scott Rodgers was one of the best defenders our guys
saw this season,” said Rider head coach Tom Dempsey.
“He is clearly one of the better defenders in the
country.”
Rodgers was named second team All-CAA. He led the
Dragons in scoring (13.7 ppg), but it was on the other
end of the floor where he really excelled. Selected to
the CAA All-Defensive team, Rodgers averaged five
rebounds per game. |
