The history of Basketball dates back to the late 1800s, when a physician, coach and sports-fan named James Naismith conceived of, and wrote the first rulebook on the sport. Basketball has come a long way since then, but it definitely reached its peak in the 1940s when the National Basketball Association was first established. The NBA has seen some of the greatest basketball players of all time, and has had some of the best teams in basketball history.
The National Basketball Association is an organization comprising 30 teams, 29 US teams, and one Canadian, and is a part of the four major North American sports leagues, along with the NFL (national football league), NHL (national hockey league) and MLB (major league baseball). It is the biggest professional basketball league in the world.
The popularity of the NBA has attracted numerous fans of basketball worldwide, and with that many fans, the interest of bettors is naturally piqued. Basketball betting is hugely popular in the United States, and to a lesser-extent, worldwide. With online betting gaining more and more prominence, bet online at Novibet pops up on the internet almost daily, and many see a large number of bets placed on all four of the Major League Sports.
With a history spanning over 80 years, the NBA has seen many great teams, but only a few are remembered as the best of the best. In this article, we will take a look at a couple of the NBA’s best teams, and talk about when they reached their peak.
The Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers have seen some of the best players in the game of basketball, and have been on the top on more than one occasion. Their best season is without a doubt the 1986-87 season. To understand their success in the ’96-’97 season, we must look back a year prior, when the Lakers seemed on top of the world with a 62-win season. They had victory snatched from them by the Houston Rockets, and the year’s championship fell into the hands of another of NBA’s best, the Boston Celtics.
The Lakers came back in ’96, hungry for the title. They won 65 games, and reached the NBA finals, where they faced off against the Celtics themselves. With a stacked team comprised of all-time greats like Magic Johnson and Abdul-Jabbar, and after a grueling six-game-long fight for the top, the Lakers came out victorious, and went down in history as one of the best teams in the NBA.
The Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls are without a doubt the most popular and beloved NBA team of all time, as they are the team that made NBA a global phenomenon. Today, the Bulls are still one of the best teams, however, their peak was the 1995-96 season, when undisputed GOAT, Michael Jordan was heading the team.
As with the Lakers, the Bulls’ best season came from a lackluster previous year. In the ’94-’95 season, Michael Jordan was branching out to other sports, and the Bulls’ showing in the NBA were lacking. A year later, however, Michael Jordan returned to basketball, hungry to prove that he was still the best. The Bulls ended the season with a record-setting 72 wins, and proved themselves champions.
