MIKEL BROWN JR EARNS LUTE OLSON AWARD NATIONAL PLAYER OF WEEK HONORS

BOSTON, MA -- Louisville’s Mikel Brown Jr. has been named the Lute Olson award National Player of the Week. The 6-foot-5 freshman helped the Cardinals to a pair of conference wins last week.

Brown opened the week with a career-high 45 points against NC State. He was 14-for-23 from the field, including 10-for-16 from beyond the arc. He also finished with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. On Saturday, he had 29 points, 6 assists and 5 steals against Baylor. For the week, he shot 66% from beyond the arc (14-of-21).

The Lute Olson award is presented annually to the top player in division I college basketball. The award voting panel is made up of current division I coaches, athletic administrators, and senior College Insider staff members.
