JT TOPPIN EARNS LUTE OLSON AWARD NATIONAL PLAYER OF WEEK HONORS

BOSTON, MA -- Texas Tech’s JT Toppin has been named the Lute Olson award National Player of the Week. The 6-foot sophomore helped the Commodores to a pair of conference wins last week.

Last Wednesday, Toppin finished with 31 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 blocks and 1 steal against Utah. On Saturday he posted 27 points, 12 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block against No. 11 BYU.  For the week, Toppin was 25-for-41 from the field (61%), including 6-for-8 from beyond the arc.

The Lute Olson award is presented annually to the top player in division I college basketball. The award voting panel is made up of current division I coaches, athletic administrators, and senior College Insider staff members.
