JOSIAH DAVIS EARNS LUTE OLSON AWARD NATIONAL PLAYER OF WEEK HONORS
BOSTON, MA -- CSUN’s Josiah Davis has been named the Lute Olson award National Player of the Week. The 6-foot-3 senior helped the Matadors to a pair of conference road wins last week.
On Thursday, Davis posted a career-high 31 points, and a career-best 14 rebounds against UC Santa Barbara. He also finished with 7 assists, 1 block and 1 steal. Two days later he finished with 21 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 steal against Long Beach State to move into a first-place tie in the Big West Conference. For the week, Davis averaged 26 points, 8.5 rebounds, 8 assists, and 1 steal while shooting 46% from the field.
The Lute Olson award is presented annually to the top player in division I college basketball. The award voting panel is made up of current division I coaches, athletic administrators, and senior College Insider staff members.
